Item - 2

It would appear that the historian tried to keep his gathered photos in a 'surname or by-location' cohesiveness. These photos were found together and may be (A) related to one another in some way (B) gleaned from the same source (ie an auction or a donation) or (C) may have not yet been sorted in anyway).

100 pages of a B&W snapshot album along with photos and glass negatives an entire generation older. Seems to be alot words written on these photos with names and locations.

This lot contains some fabulous pages!

Item - 12

Group of early titles and publishing including an1890 Black Beauty and an early printing of Tom Thumb. Fair - good condition. This is a beautiful grouping that was so fun to explore.

Item - 13

AUCTIONEERS METHOD: I lay-out a layer of photos fitting my camera screen, shoot it,  then I place another layer on top and shoot that attempting to expose nearly every item being offered in that lot. That is the method I have chosen to 'de-construct' a 'flat or box' full of items. Often I will include an overview photo of the containerized lot.

This lot contains portraits, snapshots, cabinet  cards, a tintype and photos that appear to be contact prints off of a glass negative. These are all old photos on paper of the period. Including a notable small photo advertising Anthony barbed wire fencing, a school bus and a mechanic in his shop.

Item - 21

This lot includes various catalogs depicting the state-of-the-art illustrations and printing-processes used over the evolution of the printed page.

Mail order marketing and in-home sales were tremendous tools to not only supply items you need but to expose the consumer to things they never knew existed. For many rural folks, an illustration of an electric toaster was the first toaster they had ever seen!

The Sears catalog is very rough! Interestingly the bicycle pages were the only color lithographs inserted to the book. Can you imagine the sales spike to those bikes! Sears Roebuck was creating life-long consumers that would eagerly anticipate the next catalog!

The world map, circus program and 'spoon-card' are all in this lot.

Item - 22

Boxes of photo slides presentations, home photos slides, slide viewer and a gray-scale photographic indicator. This will be a particularly interesting lot to look thru.

Item - 23

Item - 25

Collection of colorful vintage needle cases from the 40's and 50's. Some are printed on both sides. All have contents.

Item - 26

57 glass negatives..

Glass negatives are a treasured piece of photography history. Emulsified glass plates were eeasilypurchased and used by a wider variety of photographers and offered a sharpness to the image unlike any photographic advancement before it.

Glass plate photography finally permitted pictures to be taken on the fly. Whimsical snapshots could be made anywhere! At granmas house for the holiday, to record collegiate activites or to simply photograph a pet..

With a photographers (hobbiest) newly discovered freedom, the subjects of glass negatives can be great fun to discover!

Commonly used around the 1880' to the 11920's. Storing them long term was perilous. Their sensitivity to wetness and the fragility of the glass, make these a fairly rare find 125 years later!

Notice the high Victorian fashion in the photo, it was shot on a camping trip?

Item - 27

The decades of advancement in the photographs in this lot, leads me to think they are cohesive to one family. Every step of the home photo is seen here, over 7 decades of the hobby.
